At the beginning, we would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to meet with us. In today’s busy world, everyone has a lot on their plate, and we came up with the idea of having this conversation purely for pleasure. It’s really nice that you found a moment for this interview. So, shall we begin? Here are our questions:
Why DOLLE? What made you choose our company and our stairs?
For very specific reasons. The apartment I’m renovating is located in the attic of an old tenement building in the city centre. It’s accessible via a rather narrow staircase — and there’s no lift. Most staircase models available on the market, including those made from bent sheet metal (which I also liked very much), are manufactured in one piece, making it simply impossible to carry them up to the third floor.
I also dreamed of having old, reclaimed cast-iron stairs. However, those turned out to be far too heavy for the load-bearing capacity of a building constructed in the 1960s. The technical conditions therefore dictated the type of solution I needed: lightweight modular stairs that wouldn’t overload the structure and could be carried up the narrow staircase.
And that’s how I found DOLLE. They simply met all my requirements — both technical and aesthetic.

The chosen staircase fits beautifully into the overall interior design. Who managed to integrate it so well — who selected this particular model and colour?
By profession, I’m an architect. I love eclectic interiors — very personal spaces, tailored precisely to their owners. I really enjoy combining the old with the new. However, designing such interiors requires a certain sense of balance. Contrary to appearances, antiques fit beautifully into modern spaces, but only when contemporary design doesn’t overpower them and instead allows them to shine.
That’s exactly the condition the Calgary staircase fulfilled. It’s simple, modern, and minimalist — free of unnecessary ornamentation — and therefore serves as the perfect backdrop. Of course, I’m fully aware that such a strong colour can be demanding in everyday use, but from the very beginning, I couldn’t imagine any other choice.
This dark, almost black graphite tone, combined with a vibrant, expressive cobalt, is the leitmotif throughout the apartment — it appears on the furniture and kitchen cabinets as well. Choosing this shade made the new staircase look as if it had always been there. It blends perfectly with the atmosphere of the designed space.
Napisałam maila i proszę. Mam nowe schody bez wychodzenia z domu.
How did you come across the DOLLE brand? Was it through advertising, a recommendation from friends, or in some other way?
I’ll admit, I had my doubts at first. These are modular stairs — assembled from individual components — and I was worried about their stability. On top of that, my project budget was quite limited. As it turned out, my concerns were completely unfounded — I’m very positively surprised.
It’s possible that the quality of the installation played a role here as well. The assembly was carried out by the DOLLE team, and their experience in putting together these “staircase puzzles” definitely made a difference. The entire structure feels impressively solid and stable.
Of course, these aren’t the kind of stairs you can run up and down in leaps — they’re fairly steep — but compared to the vertical, heavy ladder that used to lead to the mezzanine, they’re a major upgrade in terms of comfort. They also allow easy access to the wardrobe located right next to them, which was important to me. And, I must say, they look great — not only in photos, but in real life too.

Was the staircase installation carried out by our company? If so, are you satisfied with the service?
Yes, I ordered the stairs together with the installation service.
Although I enjoy doing DIY projects and carried out part of the attic adaptation myself, I decided to leave this particular task to professionals. And I’m glad I did — their years of experience were clearly visible. The team handled the entire process very efficiently, saving me a lot of time, especially during the measuring and handrail installation stages, which required both skill and precision — and at least four hands.
Would you recommend the staircase model you chose to your friends?
Absolutely! Especially to those who need a compact, budget-friendly solution for smaller spaces.
How would you rate the overall cooperation with our company? We’re always eager to put our customers’ feedback and suggestions into practice.
I really appreciate the fact that the entire process was carried out remotely.
We experienced only minor hiccups during the technical coordination stage when preparing the new opening in the mezzanine, but everything was successfully resolved, and the final result exceeded my expectations. I was also pleasantly surprised that the distance between us didn’t pose any problem at all.
A few words about our customer:
Marta Czyżewska-Bachórzewska
Although I hold a master’s degree in architecture, I’m returning to professional design after a break. In the meantime, I became deeply immersed in the world of antique patina workshops — working with natural lime plasters, pigments, and casein paints. I decided to rescue old, abandoned furniture and give it new life, surrounding it with contemporary design.
My goal is to create unique projects with soul — spaces that radiate a soothing atmosphere while remaining functional and a bit bold. Although I had to learn the entire process from scratch, get my hands covered in paint, and build my own workshop, I’m grateful to have the privilege of creating something truly one of a kind. And when it comes to trends and fashions — I prefer to watch them from a safe distance.
