In 1951 the foundation for today's Dolle Group was laid by Carl Dolle. Under his direction the product range of simple wooden products was quickly expanded towards high quality component parts. The "safe way to the attic" was taken steadfastly. Wooden ladders and the newly developed extendable attic stairs within a few years formed the main focus of the business.

At the beginning of the 1980s Carl Dolle made the next decisive switch for the future of the business. After 30 years of pure commercial activity he dared to make a backward integration of manufacturing. Along with his Danish business partner Erik Torrild, he began the building up of staircase manufacturing in Frøstrup, Denmark.

Over the following years DOLLE established itself as one of the leading stair manufacturers in the rapidly developing building materials and construction market industries in Germany. As a result the product range was constantly improved and expanded, especially with regard to Do-It-Yourself requirements. The spiral staircase that was introduced in 1984 very quickly became a major seller and the insulated attic stairs became a household name.

In 1988 DOLLE introduced take-home spiral staircases based on the unit construction principle onto the market for the first time, and in 1997 the production of wooden main staircases began in order to complete the range.

In the development of all products, the safety of the user was, and is, the prime concern at DOLLE. In the Danish manufacturing plant certified according to DIN ISO 9001, stairs were regularly removed from the ongoing production and examined very thoroughly. DOLLE attic stairs are today produced according to the guidelines of DIN 4570 adopted in 1998.

In this way DOLLE Treppen have been the perfect example for the last 50 years of "the safe way to the attic!" This success is not only thanks to the vision and creativity of Carl Dolle, but also to the commitment of all employees at the DOLLE Group.
